My 6-yo and I have been taking piano lessons at Soriel Music Academy for over a year now and it has been absolutely amazing experience throughout so far. My son has been taking lessons with Ms.Amy. She has the skill (and the patience) to motivate and make a 5-yo boy engaged. We live a bit far so can only take lessons once a week – but he completed 3 books so far and is now capable of reading notes and playing both hands – which is a miracle given he practices max 5 minutes a day 🙂 Most importantly he enjoys playing the piano and music. I myself have been taking lessons on jazz piano / piano accompaniment and practical music theory with Ms.Kyulee. She designs tailored curriculum based on my goal and skill and her lessons have been super effective for me. As a working mom, I only get to practice 15 min a day on average but still I have been able to learn and improve a lot thanks to her. I look forward to the lessons with her every week. Lastly, the director Ms.Tammy and the staff are amazing. They are so passionate about music education and supportive. We participated in the spring recital – the hard work they put together for it was phenomenal. Both my son and I had great experience of performing with fellow musicians in a beautiful music hall. The studio is conveniently located in Korea town, well-maintained and clean – also parking is so easy and free.

I first met Dr. Yeaseul Kim as a piano accompaniment. She guided me patiently at my pace while repeating the accompaniment lesson several times. Even if I made a mistake during the Dohan performance audition, he guided me well and I was able to finish it well. My requirements were also met well. As a student who specializes in both piano and violin, I don’t think I could have met a better teacher and I highly recommend him.

Miss Olivia is a fantastic cello teacher. Not only does she have an impressive resume, but her patience and attentiveness during cello lessons with children and adults alike is admirable. I hate to leave a bad review but this was honestly not a good experience. They owe me 1 more paid class and because of the owner’s constant disorganization/mix ups she thinks otherwise. I purchased the 8 class package which cost me 600$ which seemed like a good deal. She also told me I need to pay for piano notes/books which she needs to order from Amazon, then she ended up giving me another students used book so I paid for used goods. I was told I can cancel/move a class at least 24 hours before which is standard. So we set a time 2 times a week. The teacher (who is the owner her name is Mari) is extremely unorganized and keeps mixing things up. She told me she’d be the one teaching me. On our second class she showed up 15 minutes late saying that she’s too stressed/busy/booked and can’t teach me why don’t I take a class with her “student teacher”. So she cancels our class the same day, last minute while I was waiting for her in the classroom for 15 minutes (I took time off work for this) and I ended up going home. So I start working with her “student teacher” which she was great, but after 2 classes Mari, the owner says she has time and is available again, so we go back to working with her again. Mind you this all after she took the money in full for the classes. Then she asks me one day to not come on a Saturday when our class was scheduled, so I agree. And then the following week she says “I forgot to come on Saturday and why didn’t I cancel, that I can’t just not show up”. Clearly she forgets what she says and then blames the students. These situations happened a few times where she would mix the times up and forget that we moved or even had a class. She even once messaged 20 minutes before our class and told me she had to go to Equinox and can we move our class (which I agreed). Then again after a few classes, she told me she’s busy and I should go back to working with her student teacher again, which I did. Mari told me we have two more classes left (that was last week), so today I took my 1 class and have 1 more class left, she turns around and tells me that’s your last class. She owes me 1 more class which I paid for, but based on her confusion and constant mix up she thinks I took all the classes. I have text messages where I confirmed each class before I’d come in cause she was so unpredictable so I didn’t know if she was going to flake again or forget. Anyway I wouldn’t recommend this place. Overall a rip off. Just cause it’s a bit cheaper than other piano classes doesn’t mean it’s good, the headache of the constant mix ups she would have is absolutely not worth it. Mind you I was nothing but nice, understanding and respectful with these people and their time. The last time I was there (today) when I asked her about my last class, she kept pushing for me to purchase future classes and at the same time telling me she doesn’t care if I come back or not cause her blood pressure and mental health is more important. Very rude and unprofessional. Respectfully, it was a big waste of my money and time. Never going back!
